BMW INPA / EDIABAS 6.4.3 + Install Files etc. [1.1GB]
BMW DIS v57 / SSS v32 Installer Files [6.7GB]
**You will need BOTH parts to fully install DIS v57**
You will need a laptop with USB running Windows XP or Windows 7.
You will need a USB-OBD cable optimised for post-2005 BMWs. An older cable can be modified by removing the solder-bridge between OBD pins 7 and 8 - a guide is here.
GUIDE:
Unpacking Files:
- Unpack the 2 .rar files into a new folder.
- Where the contained instruction file mentions unpacking files from CD1 and CD2, all the .rar files for both CDs are contained in the one 6.7GB download.
Installation:
- If upgrading from DIS v44, install the files into the same folder and overwrite existing files.
- The instructions cover Windows XP, but files for Windows 7 and 64-bit, along with instructions for that are provided in a folder marked OTHER.

I have INPA talking to the F10 (after modifying a cable). DIS installed and appears to be working, but F10 isn't an option so waiting to get my hands on a friends post 2006 E90 / E60.

Here's a VMware loader for BMW software. It allows you to keep VMware services off and automatically starts necessary programs as well as switch EDIABAS versions between 6.4.3 and 7.3.0.

ReplyDeleteWhen I click on Diagnostic Head Button in DIS config, I get the hourglass but nothing happens. So I don't come to the screen where I see the Diaghead. Only the hourglass which stays on forever. Any help?

ReplyDeleteUnsure what's wrong, but files for DIS and SSS aren't working. Tried on 3 different laptops, on each one tried with XP and 7, and everywhere same problem - SSS needs files for Windows SP2, DIS - panic HTFS.

DIS didn't auto-detect my car so I chose 318D Touring. But it then asks for the year and it only goes as far as 2009/03. Will it not support my 318D 2011?

ReplyDeleteOK so i tried booting the VMX with the providded Vmware version but they never booted on win 11 , and at the end thought they where faulty then tried with my own Vmware version 16.2 i think latest one and they booted up on the spot so thank you i only have agp440.sys error on SSS but will get that sorted easily

ReplyDeleteI have found the answer. It's in "INSTALLATION GUIDE.pdf" in BMW_EDIABAS_INPA_6_ETC.rar. This guide may also be the answer to many folks' questions, who are asking for more detailed instructions. It is a 55-page guide from BMW, written and illustrated as if to step an auto mechanic through a complex software config problem. It appears to answer my main question, "exactly what virtual machine am I setting up and WTF do I do next?" I have not completed the procedure yet, and know better than to predict success given so many software variables, but at least the documentation looks good.
DeleteRegarding the broken link to "prior DIS v44 Guide" I can't quite figure out why the link doesn't work (since it looks identical to the page that I think it must be) but I'm pretty sure it's the link in the upper right of this page, under Pages/Stickies, to "DIS Software/Guide" http://www.beemerlab.org/2015/07/working-dis-v44-installation-simple.html Maybe the 's' in https is the problem but I can't figure it out.
ReplyDeleteSo I had a problem with DIS 57 virtual machine "other.vmx". It won't run well on anything faster than a Pentium 3. Turns out its running a SCO (Santa Cruz Operations) build from about 2000. Our PC's and laptops has come a long way since then and run considerably faster. A few patches were released before SCO went under. I patched the build was able to install TIS 2007 successfully. Here is the link to my google drive for the updated DIS 57 if anyone is interested:
